History
Once the most popular therapeutic manoeuvre used to treat prostatitis, it was abandoned as primary therapy in the 1960s. In the late 1990s the ineffectiveness of drug treatments for chronic prostatitis led to a brief resurgence of interest in prostate massage. In a recent trial, however, prostate massage was not shown to improve outcomes compared to antibiotics alone. The practice is still used in some parts of China.
Prostatitis
Prostatitis is swelling and inflammation of the prostate gland. It can cause symptoms like pain when you pee and pain around your groin and pelvis. A doctor might do a prostate massage to diagnose the condition. They can test the fluid that comes from your prostate ducts to see what’s causing the problem. Although the most common treatments for prostatitis are antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs It can help ease pressure and swelling by releasing fluids that build up in the prostate. Small studies have found that massaging the area several times a week -- along with taking antibiotics -- can give relief from pain and pressure.
What is Prostate for?
The prostate is a small gland about the size of a golf ball between the base of the penis and the rectum. Its main job is to make the fluid called semen, that helps sperm travel and survive.
Where exactly is the prostate?
The prostate is located about two inches inside the rectum, between the rectum and the penis. From the inside, it feels like a fleshy bulb of tissue on the front wall of the rectal lining. It’ll feel different from the other tissue in there.
Prostate massage option.
Prostate massage is a way to empty fluids from your prostate ducts. This therapy might offer some health benefits, or your doctor might use it to diagnose a problem. But it’s not something doctors usually recommend or use for testing or treatment studies are limited, prostate massage may be helpful in some medical situations and with some health conditions. To do the procedure, your doctor will slide a gloved finger into your rectum, then massage or press on the prostate from there. It may feel slightly uncomfortable, but it doesn’t take long. Receiving anal stimulation may cause feelings of having to defecate. More often than not, this is just a sensation that the stimulation causes and may take some getting used to.
By yourself or with a partner, using your fingers with the following motions.
There are safety matters
relating to prostate stimulation and anal penetration. It is strongly recommended that plenty of lubricant be used with prostate massagers to prevent rectal lining damage. A smaller instrument or finger may be introduced gradually to minimize the discomfort that some may feel. Massagers may be used with or without a condom; however, because of the bacteria found in the rectum, if a condom is not used, it is very important to clean the tool with soap before use in another orifice or by a partner.
Come hither.
Gently insert your lubed index finger into the anus and curl your finger upward in a “come hither” motion toward the belly button. Keep repeating the motion while gradually increasing your speed as the pleasure builds.
Doorbell.
Rest the pad of your finger against the outside of the prostate and gently press as you would to ring a doorbell. Mix it up by using different pressure or holding the press for shorter and longer intervals to find what works. You can use the doorbell technique when penetrating the anus, too.
Circling.
Use the pad of your finger and run it all around the prostate, circling your way around the entire perimeter of the gland. Change up the pressure and speed and continue with the combo that feels best, allowing the pleasure to build up.
Simulated vibration.
Any move that feels good can be sped up to the point of feeling like a vibrator. This can be a little hard on the wrist after a while, so it’s best to save this kind of speed for when orgasm is close.
By yourself or with a partner, without fingers
A prostate massager is a device for massaging the prostate gland. The shape of a prostate massager is similar to a finger, since prostate massages are traditionally given. They usually have a slightly curved head to effectively massage the prostate. Lubricant is necessary before inserting anything into the anus and helps to avoid injury to the rectal lining. Caution should be if a prostate massager is used because of the sensitivity of the prostate. Correct use involves a medium to light repetitive massage, or circular motion—the device being used to administer the massage should not be used too vigorously or without care, since this may lead to injury.
Prostate massage equipment
ranges from dildos to butt plugs. When used in sexual practice, prostate massagers are commonly referred to as "prostate toys", "prostate sex toys", and "anal toys". These prostate massagers are inserted into the rectum through the anus and are intended to stimulate the prostate by simple massaging or vibrating. They are used during foreplay by many couples. Prostate dildos unlike vaginal dildos, has a flared end to prevent it from being fully inserted and 'lost' inside the rectum.
Some men prefer butt plugs,
which are easy to use, can be inserted freely and left in place while the man's hands are free for other sexual activities such as masturbation. Anal plugs also come in various shapes, sizes and designs newer, more angled models (second generation) of prostate massager's have been developed to provide a more direct and thorough massage of the prostate gland. These new devices feature a more curved shape and are slightly longer than the originals. They commonly have a narrow neck and a flared end to avoid losing them in the rectum. While many massager's rely upon the body's own natural muscular contractions of the anal sphincter and anal wall to stimulate the prostate, some of the newer models come with vibrators built into them to increase sexual pleasure.
